Project Concept

From a complete picture book
to songs and animation.

Japanese sounds before words, shared in family time.

TamagoDaruma’s picture book animation project starts with one principle: each work must stand on its own as a picture book. The stories are built around short Japanese sounds that babies and toddlers can easily enjoy, with repetition, gentle illustrations, and small emotional moments between parent and child. Songs and animation are then added to create a video experience that invites children to become familiar with Japanese sounds.

Speech Picture Book

Starting with Japanese sounds: “pa” and “ma.”

The series combines easy-to-repeat Japanese sounds with pictures, rhythm, movement, and parent-child interaction. Each story is designed to feel playful, gentle, and naturally inviting for children who are beginning to enjoy sound and speech.

Papapa

A story that begins with a tiny sprout and unfolds through the Japanese sound “pa.” Soap bubbles, birds, stars, and windmills appear as the world expands together with the word “papa.”

When the child turns around and cannot see Papa, a small worried voice calls, “Papa…?” Then Papa appears with a smile, and the joy of being found fills the page with warmth.

Mamama

“Ma,” “mama,” and “ma!” — small sounds before they become full words. These gentle Japanese sounds are woven into a day of parent-child moments: hands, hugs, breakfast, wind, steam, and moonlight.

Based on a 26-page picture book, this work adds songs and animation to create a story that children can see, hear, and feel.

Picture Book Experience

Before becoming animation, each work begins as a picture book.

This series is not created merely as video material. Each work is first structured as a picture book, with 26 pages of sound repetition, scene changes, parent-child emotion, and a gentle ending.

Families can read the PDF picture books at their own pace and enjoy them together with the videos. TamagoDaruma develops each work from a complete picture book into songs and animation.
